Both Parents and Technology May Lead to Anxiety, Can Help Too

The New York Times Magazine provides the story of one teenager, Jake, who suffers from severe anxiety as an example of the increasing numbers of teenagers with serious mental health issues across America.  One contributing factor the author points out is parenting style. Another possible cause of increased anxiety in teenagers is increased smartphone use.

It seems technology can also help. One new technology that some therapists are using for exposure therapy is virtual reality.  And, both brain scans and DNA can help therapists diagnose the problem to begin with.
